Workshop in cooperation with the Qatar Social Work Foundation on “The United Nations Human Rights System”
On 23 April, the UN Human Rights Training and Documentation Centre (UNTDC), in cooperation with the Qatar Social Work Foundation (QSWF), organized a high-level workshop on “The United Nations Human Rights System,” with the participation of senior representatives from the Foundation and its affiliated Centres.
The workshop aimed to introduce participants to the United Nations human rights system and its main components, particularly the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights. It also provided an overview of the role of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), its importance, and its relevance to the work of social Centres. In addition, the workshop was an opportunity to present the mandates and roles of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the International Labour Organization (ILO), and UNESCO.
During the workshop, the Chief Executive Officer of the Qatar Foundation for Social Work presented a painting as a gift to the United Nations House. The painting was created by children with autism. Mr. Salah Khaled, Representative of the UNESCO Office for the Gulf States and Yemen, received the painting on behalf of the United Nations system in the State of Qatar.
The workshop was attended by 30 participants, including representatives from United Nations offices in Qatar, as well as senior representatives from nine (9) Centres operating under the umbrella of the Qatar Foundation for Social Work, namely: Ehsan Center, Dreama Center, Shafallah Center, Aman Center, Al Noor Center, Wifaq Center, Nama Center, Kenf Center, and the Qatar Foundation for Social Work.
