Training on “International Standards and Mechanisms for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.”
The UN Human Rights Training and Documentation Centre for South-West Asia and the Arab Region, in cooperation with the Shafallah Centre for Persons with Disabilities, organized a specialized training on “International Standards and Mechanisms for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.” The training was held over three days, from 19 to 21 April, in Doha, Qatar.
The training aimed to explain the principles of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, introduce the related terminology, and provide an overview of relevant international mechanisms, as well as the principles for preparing and drafting reports for the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. A dedicated session was also included on the application of human rights indicators. The training was attended by 23 representatives from the Shafallah Centre for Persons with Disabilities (including 21 women).
