Regional Training Course on “Engagement with International Human Rights Mechanisms” for Arab Diplomats – 17–19 November, Jordan
The Centre, in cooperation with the Jordan Institute for Diplomacy, organized a regional training course for junior diplomats from Arab countries on “Engagement with International Human Rights Mechanisms.” The training is designed to integrate human rights into diplomatic work and strengthen their capacity to engage with international human rights mechanisms, including reporting under the Universal Periodic Review and treaty bodies. The training hosted the UN Special Rapporteur on Eritrea, who engaged with participants on effective ways to interact with mandate holders. The training served as a platform for the exchange of experiences among diplomats representing human rights departments in the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of 13 Arab countries: Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Syria and Yemen.
