Sub-Regional Training for Diplomats on -Engaging with International Mechanisms for Human Rights- Qatar, May 20th to 23rd and June 24th to 27th.

Description

The Centre, in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) in Qatar, delivered a training for the benefit of diplomats from the Gulf Region and designed to anchor human rights in diplomatic work and enhance the engagement of diplomats with international human rights mechanisms and within the UN system. The training also provided an in-depth understanding of human rights concepts, principles, and standards, with specific focus on mechanisms and treaties that address Member States’ obligations and their responsibilities to respect, protect and fulfil human rights. 

The training, which was held across two phases, was an opportunity to work and exchange experiences between diplomats from the Gulf region working in the field of human rights at Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Interior, Justice, Social Development and Family, NHRIs and NMRFs. 
23 participants (35% women) from Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council, attended the regional training.
