Regional Webinar on Human Rights Indicators

On 21 September 2026, The UN Human Rights Training and Documentation Centre for South-West Asia and the Arab Region, in cooperation with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) and the Arab Network for National Human Rights Institutions (ANNHRI)), organized a webinar on human rights indicators, entitled “Data Collection and the Operationalization of Human Rights Indicators to Measure Progress in the Implementation of Human Rights”.

The webinar brought together around 50 participants representing 9 NHRIs from Bahrain, Comoros, Iraq, Jordan, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, and Sudan, and 9 National Statistics Offices (NSO)s from Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, and the Syrian Arab Republic.

The webinar aimed to enhance the use of human rights indicators in monitoring, reporting, and policymaking. The workshop also provides a platform for sharing experiences, strengthening partnerships, and identifying practical opportunities for cooperation in the field of human rights data and indicators.

During the webinar, representatives from NSOs and NHRI, shared their experiences in developing and using human rights indicators, highlighted the challenges encountered in their work, and discussed opportunities for enhanced cooperation and coordination among their institutions.
