Session on engaging with the UN Human Rights System for Human Rights Master’s Students at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies
On 10 September 2026, the UN Human Rights Training and Documentation Centre for South-West Asia and the Arab Region delivered an interactive lecture for Master’s students in Human Rights at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies. The session focused on the work of the United Nations human rights mechanisms and their role in promoting and protecting human rights at the national and international levels.
Through interactive discussions and practical examples, students explored the different UN human rights mechanisms, including the Treaty Bodies, the Universal Periodic Review (UPR), and Special Procedures, and discussed how their recommendations and findings can contribute to human rights reforms, accountability, and advocacy at the national level. The lecture also provided an opportunity to connect academic learning with the practical functioning of the UN human rights system.
A total of 6 participants attended the session from Palestine, Sudan and Tunisia.
