Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ESCR) Through Film – Digital Film Curation Campaign

Description

The United Nations Human Rights Training and Documentation Centre for South-West Asia and the Arab Region concluded the “Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ESCR) Through Film” campaign, developed within the framework of “60 Years of Commitment to Human Dignity.” The initiative disseminated five youth-produced short films from the Centre’s “Human Rights Through the Lens of Youth” competition, connecting their stories to the right to education, the right to decent work and the right to an adequate standard of living. The five films – Lovely Flowers, Jounieh, A Pen in His Heart and a Hammer in His Hand, Lord of the Seas and Al Maha – were accompanied by curated content introducing the filmmakers, providing context on the stories and explaining their links to economic, social and cultural rights. The campaign outreach was implemented by the Centre as well as the ESCR section and the Dynamic Knowledge and Library Teams, achieving the significant reach of over 500,000 viewers across Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn and YouTube.
