Police Academy Training: “Human Rights in the Context of Law Enforcement” – Qatar, 29 September – 1 October

Description

The Centre, in cooperation with the Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Interior and the Police Academy of Qatar, delivered a 3-day regional training for the benefit of 35 Academy students from Djibouti, Jordan, Libya, Palestine, Qatar, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen. The training is designed to foster law enforcement officials’ understanding and skills of relevant international human rights bodies and mechanisms; the treatment of prisoners in line with the Nelson Mandela Rules; the protection of vulnerable groups deprived of their liberty and their specific needs; as well as the Basic Principles on the Use of Force and Firearms by Law Enforcement Officials.
