The Role of Young Human Rights Defenders in the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights - Online, 2026
On 10 March 2026, the UN Human Rights Training and Documentation Centre for South-West Asia and the Arab Region concluded the second edition of a regional training programme on “The Role of Young Human Rights Defenders in the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights.”
The programme consisted of three online training phases held between February and March 2026 and brought together young human rights defenders from 14 Arab countries. The programme strengthened the defenders’ capacities to engage with international human rights mechanisms, as well as to monitor, document and report on human rights violations in line with international human rights standards. The programme also supported participants in developing strategic regional advocacy campaigns for the promotion and protection of human rights. A total of 146 participants, including 45 women, from 14 Arab countries took part in the programme.
