Fourth National Forum entitled: “Human Rights at the Heart of Drug Control: Challenges and Prospects for Sustainable Solutions”

On 20 and 21 January 2026, the UN Human Rights Training and Documentation Centre for South-West Asia and the Arab Region presented a paper on human rights- based approach in the context of drug control: the conceptual framework and implementation challenge during the Fourth National Forum entitled: “Human Rights at the Heart of Drug Control: Challenges and Prospects for Sustainable Solutions”, organized by National Human Rights Committee, in Partnership with the Qatari Ministry of Interior. 

The event aimed to address growing global challenges and confront new patterns of drug-related crimes. The forum brought together 230 representatives from several governmental entities (Ministries of Social Development and Family, Education and Higher Education, and Public Health, with the participation of the Public Prosecution, the National Planning Council, the National Cyber Security Agency), in addition to international and regional organizations, the Gulf Cooperation Council, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), and other relevant official entities, in addition to the participation of specialized UN offices, civil society, and the media.
